Things to do when you’re book slumped



Well friends, if you’re friends with me on Goodreads you’ve seen me change my current read a handful of times recently, as well as go MIA altogether. This is due to the simple fact that I’m officially slumped AF. I’ve been “reading” Truthwitch for well over a week now (probably closer to two, if I’m being honest) and I just can’t seem to connect. I know this isn’t because the book is uninteresting. Quite the opposite. I’m very interested in Safi and Isuelt and where their adventure is going to take them. But I just can’t seem to stay focused for longer than a few pages. I blame Victoria Schwab and my friends who were in my home, distracting me for a week. Anyway here’s a hasty, stupid list of things you can do when you’re book slumped because I haven’t blogged in a minute:


  • Stare at your bookshelves every ten minutes
  • Open your current read
  • Close it
  • Research paleo diets because you’re getting pudgy
  • Eat a pizza instead because that’s too hard
  • Wash every article of clothing in your apartment
  • Sleep
  • Wash your clothes again because you left them in the washing machine when you fell asleep
  • Clean the apartment
  • Wash your clothes again because you didn’t hang them up and they got wrinkled because you’re trash
  • Add more music to your weird indie/folk playlist
  • Watch home improvement tv shows
  • Sleep
  • Take bookstagram photos of the books you aren’t reading (trash)
  • Throw yourself into your schoolwork
  • Try to get rid of the cat smell in your office
  • Wash your hair because you can’t remember how long it’s been up in this bun
  • Scroll through social media until you’ve seen every new post
  • Do it again just in case
  • Clean the apartment again
  • Online shop for more books that you won’t read
  • Remember you literally have no money
  • Cry
  • Sleep
  • Make a protein shake and only drink half of it
  • Go to the gym because your boyfriend is paying for it
  • Do 10 minutes of cardio
  • Die
  • Do abs because you’re getting pudgy
  • Complain about it for the rest of the day
  • Bug your boyfriend until he buys you Starbucks
  • Try to get him to buy you books because you’re trash
  • Pout when he doesn’t
  • Do the dishes you’ve been avoiding, you garbage human
  • Try to read again
  • Fail
  • Sleep
